One Response to “How likely am I to make a full time career out of voice overs?”

It’s completely feasible… It won’t make you a millionaire but it will earn you a respectable living once you are established. A demo reel is a must, unfortunately it’s a chicken and egg situation. They like to hear actual work you’ve done and the range of your voices - but a well produced demo reel will get you in the front door.

It seems that they always want the V/O talent at the last minute - so closeness to recording studios and consistent availability are prerequisites.

The variety of work available is endless, I have done radio and TV commercials, documentaries, video games and many other genres.

In many cities they conduct V/O classes which will teach you not only voice techniques and style, but also the business side of V/O work. This is a great place to start as they will refer you if you have the talent and stability.
